My employer only allows 17% contrubition to 401K and they do not match anything right now (0%) so I will not reach the $15K limit. Anyway to help me get the max tax deferral of $15K?

We recently got a new 401K and need to decide our allocation mix between large caps, foreign and bonds. Not sure if I should take the current economic situation into consideration or just stay the course. Thanks!

Let’s say for 2008, I would like to contribue the $5k (max amount) to my traditional IRA and another $5k to a Roth IRA. At the same time, I’m an active participant to an employer sponsored 401k plan. I will be filing on single status. Can I do this?

I’ve had an Roth IRA for 9 years, but recently moved it to a new institution. If I want to take money out of my contributions, how is the account affected by the 5-year rule? Does this account have to be open for 5 years at the new institution before I can withdraw?

Can you contribute to the traditional ira and claim deductions incase you worked part of the year for the employer that has retirement plan and you contributed to 401K?
Considerting that you were employed for rest of the year.

Did not get any clear answer after lot os searching. Any ideas?

So, if I intend to leave my current company in a year & move my 401K into another 401K or IRA option, does it make sense to just keep everything in a money market fund? Would I have to stay with the same funds for 5 or more years to reap any benefits from the stock market? Thanks.

I have recently changed jobs and would like to know if the annual limit still applies to my 401K.

For example, year to date I’ve contributed $10K to my previous employer’s 401K plan. Does this mea my 401K contribution for the year with the new employer should be less than 5.5K?

Thanks!
