Is there something better than a IRA for retirement?
I am planning on working for a couple of years before going to school for a regular MBA. Can I contribute to my 401k plan now and withdraw it without penalty to fund my college tuition? Or is it better to take the tax hit now, rather than take the penalty later ?
Last year, I rolled all of my investments from the 401K plans of previous employers into a mutual fund IRA rollover account. I have recently been considering putting that money into a Roth IRA. I would not be contributing regularly to the Roth IRA, were I to do it.
What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of doing this? Is my money as likely to grow as it would in a mutual fund investment? What are the tax issues involved with such a move?
I have a target retirement fund for all my 401K money and it’s down right now. If I keep adding money does it buy more shares of it so when the price goes up I do even better?
