My wife’s company just added a 401k and I am considering contributing to it but was wondering if there are limits to max 401k contributions if we file married/jointly? I currently max out my 401k account and I know with our combined income status IRA contributions are no longer tax deductible so I am worried adding to her 401k will bring the same limitation.
I am allowed a $5000 Roth contribution. I want to take $2000 from my traditional IRA and convert it into an existing Roth IRA. Can I put in $5000 PLUS the $2000 conversion, or does the conversion limit my contribution to only 3000 additional dollars this year?
I am going to be getting out of my job in February and I need to lower my amount that I put into the investing each month. Do I just talk to my financial planner and he can take care of that. Or anre there penalization fees? I just need to lower it for a while until I get a different job or get some other similar income. Ive done this through First Command, and they been investing my money through Pioneer Investments and Franklin templeton.
My husband wants to cash in two IRAs that are earning very low interest. He will use the money for buying a house to fix up for rental. Would it be best to do this or to take out the minimum amount and cash in regular CDs which have not matured?
Also, does the date the IRAs were purchased matter? Other smaller IRAs were combined with these about a year ago – could that be a problem?
Thanks for your help!
How much should a person make before starting to think about investing in a Roth account?
I am looking into withdrawing my IRA early, I was told to withhold an amount in order not to be penalized later on by the state and the IRS, what percentage should it be?
